 Membership Guidance Notes

1. Membership
1.1. Applications for membership of the club will be considered from any person with an interest in canoeing whether direct or indirect and who undertakes to behave in the best of the sport and the club.
1.2. As a guide a minimum age for a child is around 8, however the coaches may feel that child is not yet ready for the challenges presented in a Watersport environment such as the docks but could cope with the pool sessions at winter time. The child safety is paramount so coaches decision is final.
1.3. A Junior member is defined as under 18 years of age at the time of taking out or renewing membership.
1.4. You don’t have to join immediately, you can try us out for 3 weeks before paying your membership fees on a trial membership.
1.5. Membership is based on a rolling 12 month duration from the date on which the initial membership is purchased.
1.6. When new members attend their first session they will be welcomed by a coach, who will introduce themselves and give you further details about the Club. They will also ask about the new member’s abilities, experience and what they’d like to get out of the sessions. New members are also advised to visit the Club’s Facebook Page, Instagram, and Website so they can keep up to date with the Club’s activities.

2. Concessionary Membership
2.1. An adult member aged under 22 at the time of taking out or renewing membership, and in full-time education. 

2.2. Or An adult member entitled to receive state old age pension.
2.3. Or, Other category of member as agreed from time to time by the Organising Committee.
 

3. Family Membership
3.1. Applies for up to 2 adults and 2 children living at the same address.
3.2. Please attach additional forms for each family member giving details but leaving address & membership fees blank,
Parent or guardian should sign appropriate child form if child is under 18 years of age
 

4. Subscription - payment may be made by:
4.1. Cheque - made payable to “Grimsby & Cleethorpes Canoe Club”
4.2. Bank Transfer - to the club NatWest bank account. Sort code 56-00-52 Account 33160694, please state your
surname & “subs23” in the transaction reference
4.3. Cash - Forms and payment can also be handed in at Club Training sessions.

4.4 Through purchase on ClubPal, under membership.
 

5. Data Privacy
5.1. Information supplied on this form is strictly confidential but will be held on a computer database. Membership details will be used for internal club purposes only and will not be distributed to any 3rd parties without authorisation in line with the club Data Privacy Policy.
 

6. Email address
6.1. An essential method of communicating with members is valid email address, so please remember to give an up to date address when completing this membership form.
 

7. Medical Conditions & Medication & Emergency Contacts
7.1. In order to exercise our duty of care to our members we ask you to provide this information to be made available to our coaches and club officials who will be supervising club sessions. Please additionally provide any relevant information we should know which could affect our ability to work with you / your child effectively.
 

8. British Canoeing non Member Fee
8.1. We encourage our members to become members of British Canoeing. Non BC members are required to pay an additional £3 per year to cover insurance. This levy is collected and passed on to British Canoeing.
 

9. Boat Storage
9.1. An annual fee of £10 can be paid to store one boat in the clubs Pool boat storage facility or Docks boat shed. The owner accepts that the boat is stored at their own risk, and that the club is not liable for any lost/stolen or damage to boats stored within its facilities.
9.2. Club Coaches and committee members may store their boat/s in these facilities free of charges as a benefit for voluntary services provided to the club.
 

10. Photo-Consent
10.1. Please delete as appropriate to indicate preference for photographs to be taken by club officials and other approved people in relation to promotion in accordance with British Canoeing guidelines. As a general policy pictures of children are not published without their parents or guardian’s consent.
 

11. Social Media
11.1.Club Website - Is used to provide information about the club and its activities and a logon to the members area will be provided on request. https://www.gccanoeclub.com
11.2. Club Facebook Group Webpages - The club supports a closed (members only) Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/gcckc/ to provide information and share photographs & experiences, and also use Facebook Messenger to communicate with its members.
 

12.Declaration
12.1. Members are required to to abide by the rules and codes of conduct laid down in the club constitution, and serious violation can lead to exclusion from the club.
 

13.Change of information - Please let the Membership Secretary know of any changes to your information particularly email address, postal address, contact telephone numbers and medical needs.
