Summer Dock Session

This year attendance remains at £6 for Adults and Trial  member paddlers. Once a child has an annual membership package dock session costs are reduced to £4.50. This is subject to change at the next committee meeting.

Location - Fisherman's Wharf Grimsby, behind Sainsburys. Follow the road around Sainsbury's towards the fishing heritage centre.

We meet at the containers (next to the ABP pumping station) at 18:30 to allocate kayaks, paddles etc with a view of being on water at 19:00. Equipment will be transported to the launch area, where paddlers will be allocated to a coach. Sessions will last approximately an hour but may be extended as the nights get lighter.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE CONTAINERS - THE FISHING HERITAGE CAR PARK SHOULD BE OPEN FOR USE.

DO NOT DRIVE DOWN AND PARK AT THE DOCKSIDE. ANPR CAMERAS ARE USED TO MONITOR PARKING AND ISSUE FINES.

All equipment is included in the price and paddlers would just need:

  • Swimwear
  • Towel
  • Dry change of clothes
  • Hot Drink (advised!)

Plus appropriate protection for the expected conditions.

  • Wetsuit
  • T shirt/rash vest
  • Wet shoes/old trainers (are suitable).
  • Thermal rash vest
  • Cagoule/Waterproof Jacket/ Pac a Mac (we have a small selection of these to lend)

Paddlers must wear the correct clothing for the conditions on the day, coaches may turn you away if you are incorrectly dressed for the conditions.

Note we do not have changing facilities at the docks, a beach changing robe works well. It is advised that all paddlers turn up to the docks in their paddling attire.

Helmets are mandatory for all paddlers.

Under 18’s must have a parent or appropriate adult at the launch area for the duration of the session.

All paddlers must have their equipment checked and only enter the launch area (slipway) once fully kitted out. On return, exiting the session, paddlers should keep all safety equipment on until they have left the launch area (slipway).

Please ensure as you enter or exit the launch area (slipway) that you notify the assigned club official and they will  “check you in” and ”check you out“.

Children will only be released into the care of their responsible adult.

Risk Assessment for the session can be found on Club Pal. Click, ‘Governance’, ‘Risk Assessment Dock Session’.

The Organising Committee of the Dock Sessions believe that the welfare and wellbeing of all children is paramount. All children, regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, have equal rights to safety and protection. All suspicions, concerns and allegations of harm will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately. A welfare officer for the event has been appointed and will act as the point of contact for any concerns or allegations.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
