GCCC doesn’t just happen – behind the scenes are a group of volunteers who aim to make the club run smoothly and ensure the club keeps growing stronger.
Our AGM is just around the corner, and it’s your chance to help shape the future of our club. We’ll be reviewing the past year, setting our course for the next, and electing new officers to lead the way. Whether you’ve been paddling with us for years or are new to the club, your voice matters. The AGM is open to ALL members whether social or paddling and we encourage as many attendees as possible.
If you’re enthusiastic about kayaking and supporting our volunteer community, consider standing for a committee role— all you need is a willingness to get involved and a strong club presence to support our other officers, club members and volunteers. Come along, have your say, and help keep our club thriving! Standing for a committee position is more than just carrying out a role. It is about supporting the club and being around to support the running of the club.
There are no pre-requisites for standing for election but if elected certain roles require training funded by the club. All committee members will have to apply for a DBS certificate and carry out safeguarding training.
As you will have seen from our updated constitution there are seven elected officer positions.
The term for all elected officers is one year. At the end of the year current post holders may stand for re-election alongside other members.

- Membership Secretary
- Welfare Officer
- Safety Officer

If there are multiple members standing for the same position, you may be required to state briefly why you are standing for this position.
We also have a number of co-opted supporting roles available. These roles provide an opportunity to get involved with the running and development of the club without taking on an elected officer position.
